The Desktop Developer Platform Lead will be responsible for delivering success for multiple desktop developer platforms, ensuring best practice platform utilization and governance and fostering developer engagement and collaboration through hands-on platform advocacy and expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Configuration & Governance: Engineer vendor products to Visa’s environment by installing, upgrading, patching, and maintaining desktop developer platforms in a technical and highly interoperable production environment. Define best practices and standards for each assigned platform, staying up to date with the latest industry trends and platform best practices for developers. Define, implement and manage usage policies related to tool workspaces, repositories, images, extensions, and content, automating policy governance wherever possible. Run pilots and facilitate user acceptance testing of new versions when needed.
- Experience & Community Lead: Build and nurture relationships with developers and the wider technical community. Advocate for the needs and interests of developers on each platform within the organization to enable maximum productivity and efficiency and ensure that developer feedback is incorporated into product development and roadmap decisions. Provide internal L3 support for Developer Platforms when needed.
- Technical Content Creation & Communication: Produce valuable platform-specific content that resonates with developers, such as quick start guides, tutorials, blog posts, usage documentation, new feature demos, real-world technical code/config examples, and other educational resources. Communicate effectively with the community through various channels (chat, email, etc.).
- Platform Liaison: Act as platform liaison with external vendor and internal Security, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure platform adherence to all vendor and company policies. Interface with vendors for security vulnerability remediation when necessary.
- Metrics & Reporting: Analyze data to identify trends, measure initiative effectiveness, and inform future strategies. Prepare regular reports on developer tool health and developer satisfaction.
